Photography became a hobby for me after leaving the Royal Australian Air Force in 1999. I
love travel and wanted to document my experiences of the places I visited and the people I
met. Hence I became a ‘visual storyteller’, but mostly just for myself, family and friends.
The process of learning and improving my art took many years and probably many more
years to come. More recently the desire to produce photos in a more creative way by
pushing the boundaries of the technical and artistic basics became my focus. I intend to
further investigate the infinite possibilities in this style of media as time permits.
As I have gained more confidence in my art I have started branching into the digital / social
media arena with the inception of a personalised photography facebook page and website.
My hope is that, through my photography, I can convey the beauty I see in the amazing and
unique landscapes, incredible animals with distinctive behaviours and portraits of people
living their lives in their idiosyncratic ways.
My 23+ years in the Services took me to many locations and gave me many experiences
adding to my curiosity for adventure and to explore people and places. I was always
reasonably creative but found that me natural ability for this waned when I retired. It has
been a work in progress to get this side of my art back which is one of the reasons I am
entering the Veteran’s Art Exhibition. To push the boundaries so to speak.
