Rob explores subjects such as conflict, mortality and the human condition in several mediums including sculpture, painting, drawing and printmaking. The ‘body’ has featured heavily in figurative works throughout his practice.
His concepts are drawn from experiences in the military, international security consultancy, offshore industries and tattooing. A focus on professional development saw
Rob complete an Advanced Diploma in Visual Arts at TAFE and achieve a Bachelor of Visual Arts from the University of Canberra. Additionally he was selected to complete the Life-drawing Marathon at the New York Studio School and joined the team of Jason deCaires Taylor as a studio assistant completing sculptures for the Museum of Underwater Art in North Queensland.
Regularly participating in exhibitions and competitions, Rob won the inaugural Napier Waller art prize at the Australian War Memorial in 2018, won a residency at the Eddie ‘Koiki’ Mabo Library, James Cook University that culminated in an exhibition to coincide with the 50th anniversary of James Cook University in Townsville.
Rob has artworks in the National collection, James Cook University, TAFE Queensland, Townsville City Council as well as numerous private collections and enjoys public speaking about his lived experiences at Pechakucha events.
